Why Your Business Website Needs A Blog

As a business owner, you have probably been told that you need to put a blog on your website.  You may not have known how important that suggestion was to you.  Blogs that are kept updated (posted at least once a week, and no more than once per day) draw traffic to your website.  This is traffic that introduces you and your business to new individuals.  If they like what they see, they may even become loyal customers.

Blogs also work well as a platform to introduce new products, make announcements of staff changes, and any other major changes in your business. In addition, you can look at blogs as the foundation of your social media presence.  By announcing a new blog post on your social media channels, you can draw the eyes of people who are interested in the topic.  People who are searching for a particular product or service generally research those items on a company’s website before they talk to you.  Blog posts on a subject of interest to these individuals may well be the information that makes them do business with you instead of a competitor.

Provide Social Proof 

According to a HubSpot survey, sixty percent of businesses who blog acquire more customers.  In addition, blogs can paint you as the expert on that particular topic.  Your readers trust you more because they have proof that you know what you are talking about.

Google Likes New Content

Google likes blog posts because they prove the site is active and putting out good content.  Your website will probably rise in the rankings and be more easily found.  Customer comments on your blog are likely to form the foundation of future blog posts on something you know your customers are interested in.  You can even compile the posts into an e-book and either give it away as a bait piece or sell it, opening a new revenue stream for your business.

Post New Blog Post On The Same Day Every Week

Blogs posts should be published on the same day(s) of the week.  Customers come to depend on reading your blog on the same day(s) each week so don’t disappoint them.  For blogging to work well for you, the posts have to be well written and well researched.  This takes time.  Time you probably do not have.  It is still possible to provide a good, high quality blog post once a week and have any blog comments answered every day.  For a relatively small investment, you can hire a copywriter that will craft posts on topics important to your clients and answer any comments that are left on the blog.  This frees you up to work on your business in other ways.
