Do you have lots of evergreen content that hasn’t been touched in a long time? Do you have a plan to update each blog post every 3,6, or 9 months? Evergreen content is great for a blog. Someone types a question into Google and your blog post is spot-on. But what happens if the reader discovers that the post was written several years ago? The reader goes in search of a more recent blog post, that is what happens.
In addition to writing new content, you need to refresh the content you already have. That changes the publication date so readers don’t just bounce off your webpages. It also draws Google to your site since something changed on your website. That translates into a higher ranking for your website. Of course, that is only if the update is SEO optimized.
